Through repeated open and closing, the door on your Frigidaire refrigerator may sag and get misaligned. The door may be hard to open or close, and may even fail to seal properly. The door can be adjusted up and down by turning a screw in the lower pivot hinge. On some models, the lower hinge bracket can also be moved laterally for a more fine-tuned adjustment.
Remove the Phillips-head screws securing the kick plate at the base of the refrigerator with a screwdriver. Remove the kick plate.
Turn the lower hinge adjustment screw with a 7/16-inch socket to raise or lower the door. Turn the screw clockwise to raise the door; counter-clockwise to lower the door.
If the door needs adjustment laterally (side-to-side), loosen the lower hinge bracket bolts with a 3/8-inch socket and a screw. Move the door left or right as needed, then re-tighten the bolts and screw.
Open and close the door to check that it is aligned. Be sure the door does not rub on the freezer door (either above, below or beside it, depending on the model).
